It’s that time of year again when car nuts from all around the globe flock to Chichester to witness the most impressive collection of motor racing vehicles and world class drivers in the world. All petrolheads have at least one car they consider to be the dogs doodahs and at the Festival of Speed, they are likely to see it, if not only add to their dream garage.

This year saw the return of Porsche to Le Mans racing. Toyota initially led the race but retired at around 14 hours. Porsche and Audi took turns to take the lead but the lead Porsche retired leaving Audi to pick up another victory.

Formula 1 Cars
It’s been a two horse race this year with Mercedes AMG F1 dominating. Nico Rosberg is currently leading after Austria with Lewis Hamilton in second place. Lewis, without having two non-finishes due to reliability could otherwise comfortably be well in the lead. Teams such as Williams and Force India, both Mercedes powered teams are now rapidly closing the gap.

Touring Cars
Touring cars had their heyday during the 90s with the Super Touring class. Around ten manufacturers all shooting out for the top honors with world class drivers at the wheel. Thankfully, now the ‘HSCC Super Touring Car Trophy’ exists giving the opportunity for those legendary cars and drivers to once again take to the motor racing circuits around the UK. With so many cars now back up and running again, you can expect to see a good number featuring at the Festival of Speed this year. In addition, you’ll be able to see classic a modern touring cars and their drivers making their way up the hill. Some of which are as follows:

The legendary McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ will be amongst the GT and Sport Car stars this year. Sir Chris Hoy, The multi gold medal winning cycling track olympian has taken to motorsport. He’ll be driving up the hill in his works Nissan GTR GT3 car.

McLaren is to unveiled their new racer, thought to be based on the 650s at 11am on Friday.
Peugeot will be bringing along its 208 T16. The Pikes Peak hill climb record breaker was piloted by Sebastian Loeb.
Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Created to feature in the Playstation game ‘Gran Turismo’, this concept could indicate the future design direction for Nissan.
