Jet off for Midsummer in Sweden!

“Hej hej!” With direct two-hour flights from London airports to numerous Swedish cities, this Nordic country makes the perfect summer getaway destination.

Experience the famous Swedish Midsummer’s Day celebrations, this year falling on Saturday 23 June. On this day, the sun only sets for a few hours in the south of the country, and not at all in the north! Swedes often begin the day by picking flowers and making wreaths to place on the maypole, where traditional ring-dances take place. Families escape the cities to celebrate nature and the outdoors. Be sure to wish everyone a “Glad Midsommar”!

If you prefer a city break, why not try Stockholm? This stylish city is known for its excellent food, with many Michelin-starred restaurants and a wide selection of coffee-and-cake houses for an afternoon “fika” break! The royal island of Djurgården is home to many historical buildings and monuments, including Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum, the Vasamuseet, housing Sweden’s answer to the Mary Rose, and the beautiful 19th century Rosendal Palace. The Gröna Lund amusement park is open throughout June, July and August, and of course no visit to Sweden would be complete without a trip to the Abba museum!

True city break lovers can combine two countries in one trip: fly into Denmark’s Copenhagen then take the famous five-mile long Oresund bridge to Sweden’s southern city of Malmo to enjoy the city’s old town, the Banksy-esque “Anonymouse” miniature street art, the modern art within the iconic Modern Museet Malmo, the delectable food court at the Centralstation, and the oldest surviving Renaissance castle in the Nordic region.

If holidaying abroad, book an airport transfer in advance online and save time at the airport. Our drivers will check your flight’s arrival time.
