Every year, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee meets to decide which natural and cultural landmarks should be added to the World Heritage List and protected under the convention. The Committee convened in Azerbaijan in July 2019 to decide which of the 36 nominations for properties of Outstanding Universal Value should be inscribed onto the existing list made up of 1092 sites across 167 countries.
